Backpacking Travel Insurance – Key Features:

• Two levels of cover to choose from – You are able to choose Backpacking Travel Insurance or Long Stay cover. Recognising that backpacking only requires essential cover, Backpacking Travel Insurance provides cover for cancellation/curtailment, personal possessions, emergency medical expenses, personal liability and personal accident. Long Stay provides higher limits and extra cover for departure delay, missed departure, possessions delayed in transit, personal money & travel documents and legal advice & expenses.
• Return home at no extra charge! – For those wanting to break their trip midway, the insured can return home, say, at Xmas or Easter. The plan provides cover for up to two trips home (maximum Twenty-one days per trip) throughout the policy period.
• Automatic ‘Stop-Over’ cover – Cover is automatically provided for ‘stop-overs’ of up to 1 week maximum in a higher rated area e.g. travelling to New Zealand by way of the USA. This can be extended for a maximum of 31 days on payment of the additional premium.
• Wide array of activities included – A wide range of activities are automatically covered under both Long stay and Backpacking travel insurance including: amateur non-contact sports, bungee jumping, canoeing/kayaking (not white water), rafting (including white water), overland trips, sub-aqua to 9 metres, trekking below 5,000 metres, winter sports. Additional activities could be covered on payment of any additional premium.
• Excess waiver option – For a single additional premium the standard claims excess could be deleted (this will not apply to any additional excess imposed following a call to Travellers Health Check).
• 5% discount for deleting personal possessions cover – If you have alternative cover for your personal possessions e.g. under your household insurance, a discount is available for deleting this cover under both Backpacking Travel Insurance and Long Stay Travel insurance.
• 24-hour emergency medical assistance – A 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year Emergency Medical Helpline is provided for assistance if there is a medical emergency abroad.

Eligibility: Open to UK and Channel Islands residents, who have not spent greater than six months abroad in the past twelve months.

Backpacking travel insurance and Long stay Trip duration limits: Periods from 30 days up to a maximum trip duration of 18 months.

Pre-existing medical conditions: This insurance policy may not provide cover for re-occurring or pre-existing medical conditions; however, some cover may be available upon contacting us.
