The first Motorhome, Caravan and Camping show to be held in London’s ExCeL venue ended on Sunday and several exhibitors have already confirmed their intent to return next year. Motorhome manufacturers Freeborn Group and Romahome were very pleased with how the event went and believe it should be introduced as an additional annual exhibition.
Managing Director, Andrew Jones, has spoken out about just how great their experience was. “It turned out to be a perfect show for us, introducing buyers we probably would never have met at NEC or anywhere else, I think every manufacturer had to work hard at ExCel, which should be viewed as a major new regional show rather than a replacement venue for NEC,” he said.
“But we saw visitors from Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex who would probably never have gone to NEC but appreciated ExCel and bought from us there. As a manufacturer based in southern England, it brought Romahome many new friends. One couple flew into London City Airport from Amsterdam specifically to order a left hand drive New R20 Lo, having become aware of Romahome two years ago on a family visit to Godalming. It’s a superb example of customer loyalty – they tracked the progress of New R20 Lo and as soon as they knew it would be at ExCel they booked flights, came over, spent a good time looking at the vehicle, and ordered a very high specification. They searched the Continent but could find nothing to match what we offer!”
“I think that maybe next year there needs to be a review of the event’s length – the start of the week was slow for everyone but it got busy over the weekend, although not so much as NEC” added Mr Jones. “People who want to see the very latest ranges go to NEC in the autumn but ExCel is perfect for those who find NEC difficult to access. South east England has just discovered the perfect new motorhome event.”
