As you mention one of the best ways of protecting the tyres of a permanently sited caravan is to use ‘Winter Wheels’ these are essentially stands that allow you to store your tyres indoors and protect them from any weather damage.

But if your site are not keen for you to remove the tyres there are other options available, as you mention if you rotate the tyres and ensure they are always correctly inflated this will help to stop them from becoming misshapen.

Caravan wheel protectors are also a good way of protecting your tyres from potential weather damage, although there are lots of alternative options available to you we would recommend that you consult your tyre manufacturer for advice.

What precautions should I take with regards to tyres apart from covering them away from direct sunlight? My caravan is stored on a permanent pitch on shingle, but I have moved the van onto a wooden base,will this add more protection or should I put the van on axle stands,which of course the site sometimes does not agree with, or turn the wheels on a regular basis. Due to the permanent pitch, the van will not be towed on roads.
