Explanation of Caravan Insurance Cover

Comprehensive cover all year round whilst you are touring in the caravan or whilst the caravan is stored. New for old cover available for caravans aged 5 years or under.

Motorplus cover is also included and a huge benefit under this policy. This is unique to MCIA and includes a hire caravan in the event of a non-fault accident in the UK, plus a hire car, even if your car is not insured with ourselves .

Caravan Cover

Loss or damage by accident, fire, theft, vandalism, storm or flood, which occur within the territorial limits. Also included under this section is cover to all the fixtures and fittings including the Refrigerators, Gas Bottles, Awnings, Toilet Tents, Batteries, Stabilisers, Wheel Clamps, Balconies and Generators, so remember to include the replacement value for these items within the caravan value. Following damage and repair to the caravan in the UK, the caravan will be delivered to the Insured within the British Isles or to the risk address shown on the schedule (ie returning the caravan to its usual place of storage). Following damage abroad and if the caravan is repairable, subject to reasonable costs the caravan will be repatriated to the UK.

Contents Cover

Loss or damage by accidental damage, fire, theft, vandalism, storm or flood, which are within the territorial limits. Cover for personal effects such as clothing, luggage and general household goods, including portable television sets whilst contained within the caravan and belonging to the Insured or members of his family. Single article limit of £300 applies.

Security/Storage

Due to the increase of caravan thefts over the last few years, the stipulation of the policy is that a wheelclamp and hitchlock must be fitted. Caravans kept at home or at a caravan storage compound are acceptable if there has been no previous claims at the risk address. Caravan storage compounds must have acceptable security ie; locked gates, a minimum of 10 caravans stored at the compound, secure perimeter fencing (minimum 4ft) such as palisade/metal fencing/stone walls/hawthorn hedging to all boundaries. Details of previous caravan losses at the secure compound must be obtained and referred to us. Working farms and separate businesses operating from the storage compound are unacceptable.
