Why Use A Broker
Terms and conditions

The Lifesure Group of Companies was originally established in 1971 as Lifesure Limited. Whilst catering for everyday insurance needs we also offer a large number of specialist policies at competitive premiums. We continually seek to offer service of a high standard which is backed by the vast experience of our staff.

We are members of the General Insurance Standards Council.

Claims and Underwriting Exchange

Insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register, run by Insurance Database Services Ltd (IDS Ltd) and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register, run by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). The aim is to help us to check information provided and also to prevent fraudulent claims. When we deal with your request for insurance, we may search these registers. Under the conditions of your policy, you must tell us about any incident (such as an accident or theft) which may or may not give rise to a claim. When you tell us about an incident, we will pass information relating to it to the registers.

Your policy details will be added to the Motor Insurance Database (MID), run by the Motor Insurers' Information centre (MIIC). MID data may be used by the DVLA and DVLNI for the purpose of Electronic Vehicle Licensing and by the Police for the purposes of establishing whether a driver's use of the vehicle is likely to be covered by a motor insurance policy and/or for preventing and detecting crime. If you are involved in an accident (in the UK or abroad), other UK insurers, the Motor Insurers' Bureau and MIIC may search the MID to obtain relevant policy information. Persons pursuing a claim in respect of a road traffic accident (including citizens of other countries) may also obtain relevant information which is held on the MID. You can find out more about this from your insurer or at www.miic.org.uk. You should show this notice to anyone insured to drive the vehicle covered under this policy.

Data Protection

The Lifesure Group of Companies understands our responsibility to treat all information obtained from our clients with due care. We are registered with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Please note that we may pass information to the IDS Ltd., and the ABI. Such information will be made available to other insurers and may be made available to other relevant authorities.

Additional it is understood that in respect of this application, or any incident, a search made be made of the relevant Databases and information may be obtained in respect of any other insurance or incidents that you, or anyone who is insured under the policy have previously had.

The Lifesure Group of Companies may use the information that you have given to supply you with details of Company developments or to make you aware of products that we feel may be of interest to you.

Duty of Disclosure

It is to be noted that you have a duty to disclose all material facts, these being facts that would be likely to influence the acceptance and assessment of the insurance. You must notify us of any material changes that will affect the policy since inception or since last renewal. It you have any doubt concerning whether a fact is material, you should disclose it anyway.

Renewal

Insurers do not provide a period of grace within which renewals may be paid. To ensure that cover is continuous it is necessary for payment to have been received by ourselves prior to renewal date to allow us to forward the necessary documents to you by renewal date. We have no obligation to accept a payment for renewal after renewal date.

Fees and Charges

Charges are made for our professional services in order that we can cover our costs. Our current charges are as follows:

Duplicate Documents - £ 7.50
Policy Adjustments - £15.00
Unpaid Cheques - £25.00

These charges are made in addition to any charges levied by the insurers.

Cancellation Charges

Policies vary between insurers, but be aware that cancellation refunds are not given after a claim, and are otherwise calculated on a short period scale weighted in favour of the insurers as their costs are similar whether the policy runs for a day or a year.

The most common charges made are as follows:

One Month 30% of annual premium charged
Two Months 40%
Three Months 50%
Four Months 60%
Five Months 70%
Six Months 80%
Seven Months 90%
Eight Months 100%

Please note that we do not refund our commission in the event of a cancellation as this is considered to have been earned for the initial arrangement of a policy or for administrating the policy renewal.

Complaints Procedure

The Lifesure Group is committed to providing a continuously high level of service and believes this is as important as offering competitive premiums. To assist in this we would ask your assistance in achieving these standards by informing us of any aspect of our service that you feel is not satisfactory.
