InsureandGo Travel Insurance Statistics
InsuraneandGo has researched travel insurance claims made in 2007 and estimates that their total value added up to a massive £403 million. There research came up with the following figures:
The greatest number of travel insurance claims made last year were for medical problems. There total tallied up to a massive half a million claims. The average value of a medical related claim made last year was around £477.
Lost or stolen baggage came in not far behind medical problems with a total number of 430,000 claims made last year. This follows the major baggage handling problems at UK airports such as Heathrow and Stansted last summer.
Perry Wilson, Managing Director at InsureandGo, had this to say; "Our list of the top 5 most common claims shows that medical problems and lost baggage remain far and away the biggest issues for holiday makers. These are serious problems that ruin thousands of people's holidays every year and it is vital to have adequate travel insurance."
