The Lifesure Group has launched a graduate programme with the aim to attract young talent to the UK’s ever-changing insurance industry.

The Eaton Socon-based insurance broker has recently welcomed its first successful candidate to the business; Politics and International Relations graduate Laura Hajdarevic.

Laura will spend three years working across all departments, with in-depth on-the-job training and development. At the end of the three years, the graduate will have studied for and achieved her IF1 and Cert CII, as well as completing her Diploma in insurance, before being given the opportunity to continue working at Lifesure.

The successful graduate was hand-selected from 12 shortlisted applicants and impressed the panel at her interview and personal presentation.

It is the first graduate scheme to be launched by the Lifesure Group, which specialises in leisure product insurance, including motorhomes, caravans and park homes. It was established in 1971 by entrepreneurial salesman Colin Barnes.

Speaking about the new scheme, Paul Reid, MD of the Lifesure Group, said: “Our graduate initiative has been in the making for quite some time, and we felt it was the right time to launch it now. It’s an exciting opportunity and we’re very passionate about nurturing new talent. The programme can be adapted to the graduate's specific interests and skills, so they can craft their own careers and identify which area they want to specialise in – we think this is quite unusual and therefore makes our programme even more appealing.”

Paul adds: “The insurance sector has been working hard trying to attract new talent, but we need to do more to engage with and entice young people; especially as the insurance industry is often not an immediate career choice for younger people.”
