To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we asked two of our long-standing customers to share their experiences of park home living. Their stories, and others, inspired the 50th anniversary artwork created to mark the occasion.
Today we shine the spotlight on a retired couple who have been Lifesure park home insurance customers for over seven years. We spoke to Andrew and Fran at their home in New Park - Bovey Tracey, near Dartmoor, and asked them to tell us about their time there, and their experience of dealing with Lifesure.
Fran began by telling us that it was their desire to live in a one-level property when they retired, that started their journey into eventual park home living. While they first looked at bungalows for sale, the high cost of available properties in their local area, meant that this option fell outside their available price range. Going back to the drawing board, the couple quickly realised that park home living could be an alternative to consider, offering the similar sense of community they had enjoyed years earlier, when they owned a static caravan in Worcestershire.
After thoroughly researching different sites and park home options, they chose to settle in New Park, Bovey Tracey, where they soon settled into the park’s friendly community of like-minded residents of a similar age. It soon felt as though they were part of one big family, which brought great comfort to them both particularly during lockdown. They also discovered New Park has its own Resident’s Association, who organise regular social activities for residents and helped to reinforce their sense of belonging.
When we asked Andrew and Fran to share some of their fondest memories of New Park, Fran told us ‘they had so many’. However, one moment that stood out was how welcoming the residents and staff had been on the day they moved into their new home. Even to this day, people still find the time to say hello.
Andrew also spoke very highly of Lifesure and the service we provide.
“When we’ve called Lifesure in the past, there has always been a friendly voice on the other end of the phone, and the people we spoke to were incredibly helpful. We’ve made a couple of claims, and each time the process was smooth and painless. We also really appreciate the support given by Lifesure to the Resident’s Association. The customer service Lifesure provide is excellent.”
Both Fran and Andrew agree, that moving into their park home was the right decision for them but advise people who are thinking of doing the same to do lots of research beforehand. “Visit several park home sites to ensure the setup is right for you, and fully understand financial details, relating to pitch fees and utilities, before committing to buy."
We feel this is valuable advice and hope others can benefit from this and enjoy the park home living experience.
