Our UK horsebox breakdown insurance cover provides you with the reassurance that if you suffer a breakdown, you can expect a rapid response to ensure that you are able to continue your journey with minimum interruption; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“I would just like to express our appreciation as to the excellent service we received on Thursday August 25th. on the M6 when we had a front tyre blow out on our horse box. The tow truck & tyre service folk were first class & as we had a horse on board & the traffic was horrendous, it was quite scary. We were on the way to a competition near Boston & the entire trip eventually took around 9 hours because of the 3 hour delay due to the tyre. As with all insurance policies there are exclusions to the policy. We recommend that you read the policy wording and key facts documents. The exclusions include, but are not limited to:
- Vehicles used for hire or reward nor on a short term hire to the insured
- More horses than the maximum permitted number which can be transported by your horsebox
- Recovery for your caravan or trailer attached to your vehicle exceeding 23 feet (7 metres) in length (excluding the drawbar and coupling)
- Vehicles carrying more passengers than recommended by the manufacturer or carrying more than 8 people including the driver

What number should I call if I breakdown?
If you bought your policy after 18th March 2017, please call 01206 812731.
If you bought your policy prior to 17th March 2017, please call 01945 586222.
The number will be answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You will need your policy number to hand.
If I breakdown is my horsebox fixed or towed to a garage?
You are covered for the call out and up to 1 hours labour. Where possible they will carry out emergency repairs at the roadside. If it cannot be successfully repaired they will recover you, your vehicle, up to 7 passengers and horses to your registered home address, your original destination or to garage of your choice.
Is there a limited number of call outs per year?
Yes. This policy is limited to 6 call outs per year.
Are parts charged for?
Yes. You are responsible for the cost of any parts, fuel or materials used in the repair.
Is it me covered in any vehicle or is it my vehicle that is covered?
It is the vehicle that is covered. It will cover any permitted driver of your vehicle.
Can my breakdown cover be transferred if I change my horsebox during the policy period?
Yes. You can change the vehicle on the policy up to 4 times per period of cover. Any change of vehicle becomes effective 24 hours after the date you notify us of the change.
Is there a maximum payout per claim?
The most that will be paid is either £1,500 or the vehicle value, which ever is lowest at the time of the incident.
Do I get immediate cover from when I purchase the policy?
No. Cover starts 24 hours after you have paid for the policy.
Does the policy include cover for vehicles used for business?
Yes. However it will not cover vehicles used for hire and reward or for couriers
What if I put the wrong fuel in my horsebox?
You will be covered.
Is cover included for a towed caravan or trailer?
Yes. The maximum size of caravan or trailer that will be covered is 7 metres (23 feet) in length and 2.44 metres (8 feet) in width.
