Below is a summary of the main features of the Lifesure home insurance policies.
All our household insurance policies include new for old contents cover as standard and all quotes include accidental damage for both buildings and contents when first given.
As with any insurance there are a few exclusions to the policy. Please see the policy booklet for the full list of exclusions.
Excesses and policy limits may apply. Your Lifesure adviser will be pleased to give you the details.
Please note that regrettably we are unable to offer quotes to residents of Northern Ireland.
Should these policies not suit your individual needs we also have an additional panel of insurers including Ageas, Allianz, Aviva, Axa, Broker Direct, Canopius, Covea, I-Prism, LV, Prestige, Royal & Sun Alliance and Zurich.
We will search their schemes on your behalf to get you the cover you want. These policies are not available through price comparison websites.
Cover through these policies may vary from that listed above.
If your home insurance requirements are more complicated and require a bespoke policy perhaps because of the value of your home, the way it is constructed, you have suffered from subsidence in the past or you have some valuable items that you wish to cover, please visit our High Value Home insurance page for more information, or call the team direct on 01480 402475. We have a selection of High Net Worth Home policies available giving both increased sums insured and increased benefits.
Key protection cover is an optional extra that can be added on to your insurance.
Many insurance policies include key protection, but the advantages of this product include –

Most household insurance policies have a policy excess which means the policyholder has to pay the first part of a claim made under a household insurance policy.
Excess reimbursement insurance is designed to repay the policyholder the amount of any policy excess paid when making a successful claim under a household insurance policy.
This is an annual policy. The period of the contract is 12 months.
To qualify for excess reimbursement insurance the policyholder must be named as policyholder on the household insurance policy.
This insurance only applies if there is an excess under a household insurance policy. Excess reimbursement insurance applies only to own personal insurances. It will not include any commercial insurances of any nature unless it has been agreed by insurers and stipulated in the insurance schedule.
What is covered?
If the policyholder makes a claim under their household insurance policy the insurer will reimburse the policyholder the amount of any excess that the policyholder had to pay subject to:
What is not covered? (Significant exclusions)
There is no cover if the policyholder was aware at the start date of cover that a claim under the household insurance policy was going to be made.
There is no cover within the first 30 days from the inception date unless this insurance was taken out at the same time as the household insurance policy.
There is no cover if no excess was paid or deducted from the claim settlement by the insurer of the household insurance policy;
There is no cover if the claim under the household insurance policy was not successful or was for less than the amount of the excess.
Please visit the home insurance policy documents page to see sample documents for all of our home insurance policies.
You will also find copies of the key facts and legal policy wording.
Please note: We use a number of insurers to quote for various risks and depending on the individual risk, cover may vary. The sample policy wordings shown are only an indication of cover that may be available. To receive a copy of the exact policy wording applicable to your individual risk, please contact us on 01480 402460.

How do I find out my building sum insured (BSI)?
If you are buying a home it is possible that you will be able to find the rebuilding cost of the property on your home buyers survey. Another place to look is the website from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), they have a helpful calculator to work out how much you should be insuring your home for.
What’s the difference between standard accidental damage and full accidental damage cover?
Standard cover includes all of the normal perils you will find in a home insurance policy, such as fire, theft, storm damage etc. A standard policy will also generally cover a certain amount of accidental damage cover to contents: accidental damage to televisions, radios, home computers, video recorders, audio equipment, satellite dishes and aerials. To buildings: accidental breakage of glass and sanitary ware.
Full accidental damage will cover accidents to all contents, such as spilling paint on a carpet or a cup of tea on your sofa.
Are contents covered in outbuildings?
Contents are not necessarily covered under all policies in outbuildings. Cover is included in the Lifesure home insurance policy, which covers you up to £5,000 for contents in brick built buildings and up to £2,000 in wooden sheds.
Are my valuables covered at all if I don’t have personal possessions cover?
Valuables are covered whilst in your home subject to the single item limit. To ensure your valuables are covered away from the home, you would need personal possessions cover.
Are bicycles covered away from home?
Bicycles are covered under the Lifesure home insurance policy as long as you have personal possessions cover for items away from the home. Any individual cycle valued at over £1,500 would need to be named individually on the policy.
What is new for old cover?
New for old cover means that if you have a claim, any item that is replaced will be replaced with a brand new item to the same specification of the item that was lost or damaged.
Are there any advantages combining buildings and contents in one policy?
If you combine buildings and contents cover you will be given a discount for having both sections of cover on one policy. Also, if you are unfortunate enough to have a claim that affects both your building and contents, you will only pay one excess, not two if they are insured separately. Another advantage under a combined policy in the event of a claim involving both contents and buildings is that you will only have one insurer to deal with.
What is meant by escape of oil or water?
Escape of water is when water that has entered your property by the mains water supply has, at some point on its journey within your house, escaped from the pipe or tank that it was in, and caused damage to your property. Usually this will mean from a burst pipe.
What items are usually subject to a deduction for wear and tear?
Most items that are claimed for are replaced on a new of old basis. For some items a deduction is made for wear and tear. This would generally apply to household linen and clothing.
What are gradually operating causes?
Gradual operating cause is better known as wear and tear. This is damage that occurs over a period of time and is something that would not be covered under a home insurance policy.
