If you’re a pet lover, one of the huge benefits of owning a caravan is being able to take your dog on holiday with you. That is, of course, provided you choose a caravan site which allows you to do so. If you are planning an extended holiday, or really can’t face the thought of even a few days without your beloved pooch, make sure your next caravan break takes place in a doggy-friendly location.
To save you from hours of research, we’ve put together this handy guide to caravan parks that welcome our four-legged friends.
If we’ve missed any from our list that you feel should be included, please do leave a comment and let us, and your fellow dog lovers, know all about it.
Fido will thank you for it!
Top 5 caravan sites for holidaying with dogs
Thriftwood Holiday Park, Kent
With eight acres of woodland, as well as more than ample green space, Thriftwood Holiday Park is an excellent destination for all of your family, whether they have two or four legs. Woodland walks, a heated outdoor swimming pool, games room, children’s play park and extensive facilities will make this a holiday to remember. Being within easy reach of London helps too; none of you will have any excuse to complain of being bored!
Plassey Holiday Park, North Wales
Not only does this Wrexham holiday park welcome dogs, it houses a purpose-built doggy exercise area. Dogs are allowed to play off their leads in the designated area, and can enjoy walking along the trails too, as long as they are on-lead. Plassey has a lot up its sleeve for the rest of the family too – a retail village boasting more than twenty shops, a range of cafes and restaurants, a fishing pond, sauna and heated swimming pool to name a few.
Stanwix Park Holiday Centre, Cumbria
Stanwix Park’s website claims to offer “the holiday that has it all” and even a few minutes browsing the site confirms that the statement is true. A children’s play park, tennis, bicycle hire, crazy golf, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bowling and a gym make for an action packed yet relaxing holiday for guests of all ages. Dogs are, of course, more than welcome at Stanwix Park Holiday Centre.
If a deluxe Gold five pennant, multi-award winning caravan park that welcomes dogs is what you’re looking for in a holiday, it could be time to start planning a route to Devon. Situated near Torbay, Dornafield’s outstanding facilities include two off lead dog exercise areas, two adventure play areas for children, tennis and an indoor games room. The local area has a lot to offer too, with an 18 hole golf course within a mile of the holiday park just the start of it. The perfect base for exploring the “English Riviera”.
Norman’s Bay, Sussex
Located adjacent to a dog-friendly beach on the East Sussex coast, Norman’s Bay is another fantastic holiday destination. The local area boasts a farmers’ market, the South Downs Way, Pevensey Levels and plenty of Norman-related history. Why not travel the 1066 way while you’re there, taking in the sights and history of Hastings, Battle and Pevensey Castle? Norman’s Bay holiday park is just five minutes from the town of Eastbourne too, where visitors can find a plethora of shops, craft outlets, parks, gardens and more. On site, you can enjoy a designated dog-walking area, children’s play zone and a recreation hall.
